British Royal Family
The British royal family includes the king of the United Kingdom and her close relations. There is no severe legal or formal explanation of who is or is not a member of the British royal family and, apart from Queen Elizabeth II herself, different lists include different people. Those who at the time is designated to the style His or Her Royal Highness (HRH), and any styled His or Her Majesty (HM), are usually admitted members, including those so styled before the start of the modern monarch's reign.

By this criterion, a list of the current royal family will usually include the monarch, the children and male-line grandchildren of the monarch and former monarchs, the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales, and all their current or widowed mates.

Various terms may be implemented to the same or similar group of relatives of the monarch in his or her role as king of any of the other Commonwealth departments. For example, in Canada, the family is formally known as the Canadian royal family.
Some members of the royal family have recognized residences named as the places from which statements are made in the Court Circular about official meetings they have carried out. The state duties and staff of some members of the royal family are supported by a legislative annuity, the amount of which is fully restored by the Queen to the Treasury.
british royal family members
Since 1917, when King George V modified the name of the royal house from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, members of the royal family concern, either by birth or by marriage, to the House of Windsor. Elder titled members of the royal family do not normally use a surname, although since 1960 Mountbatten-Windsor, joining Prince Philip's adopted surname of Mountbatten, has been appointed as a surname for Elizabeth II's immediate descendants who do not have royal styles and titles, and it has sometimes been used when needed for those who do have such titles. In 2014 the royal family was viewed as British cultural symbols, with young adults from outside naming the family with a group of people that they most connected with UK culture.
